  11. Ok, here is why I think Amigas, includeing my A1200 with a 50 Mhz 030 and
  12. 16 megs of ram suck:

  14. 1. Good and fast browsers do not exist
  15. 2. Graphics cards are too expensive and they are not as fast as their PC
  16.    counterparts.
  17. 3. Amigas are expensive
  18. 4. They are not that easy to upgrade. Try adding a graphics card to an A1200
  19. 5. They do not have a PCI bus
  20. 6. There is no memory protection
  21. 7. Most games only run in 15 Khz mode because DBLNtsc is slow
  22. 8. Amiga games suck compared to the onse in the PC world
  23. 9. Sound on Amigas is very poor and 16 bit cards are too expensive (14 bit
  24.    is not that great)

  26. Here is why I think Amigas are good
  27.  
  28. 1. Good multitasking
  29. 2. Operating system does not waste resources like memory and processor
  30. 3. A lot of free software
  31. 4. Cool graphics programs ( which are now appearing on PC's)

  34. By the way Windows 95 is not that bad. Windows NT is very good. Networking on
  35. PC's is very nice. Netscape is very fast in Windows 95 and Windows NT. Oh,
  36. and lets see

  38. 1. Pentium mother board with 2 EIDE controllers, 2 serial, 2 parelel,
  39.    256K cache, upgradable for pipeline cache: $168
  40. 2. Pipline cache 8ns: $45
  41. 3. Segate EIDE 1.08 G HD: $208 (single platter, 10.5 ms, 256K)
  42. 4. Dimond 3D Edge PCI video/sound card with 2 megs DRAM: $300
  43. 5. Mini tower case: $33
  44. 6. 16 megs of ram 60 ns: $408
  45. 7. Pentium 120: $300
  46. 8. 3.5 Floppy: $25
  47. 9. 6x CD Rom: $148

  49. Total (withought a monitor and a modem): $1627 plus tax
  50.  
  51. If you think this price is too good to be true look in the latest issue
  52. of Microtimes and shop around a little. I will keep my A1200 for a while
  53. but my next computer will not be an Amiga unless AT keeps all of its
  54. promisses and lowers the price to match PCs.
